[SFBRWQCB
= San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board]
April 2004
- 4/6/04 letter to SFBRWQCB from DTSC,
in considering whether the site should be used for housing ..."DTSC's
review of [LFR's] Residential Risk Evaluation found the following fatal flaws:"...
and lists TEN of them.
September 2004
- 9/22/04 SFBRWQCB notice of meeting.
Note the emphasis on "Habitat Restoration". From a public agency
that had been asked to look out for the public's safety and health. Absolutely
nothing on the agenda about safety. Absolutely nothing about the extent of
hazardous waste they were about to move. Contrast to the July 2004 SFBRWQCB
letter stating they would make responsive changes.
- 9/29/04 letter to SFBRWQCB from Downwind
Businesses concerned re proposed recommencement of "cleanup"/stir-up
of toxic materials
See weblog page for many news stories
from this period of time, describing havoc around the contested "remediation,"
and the public hearings.
November 2004
- Reports to SFBRWQCB:
- 11/30/04 SFRWQCB Letter to CSV "memorializing"
the splitting of area oversight between DTSC (uplands area) and SFRWQCB (retaining
oversight of wetlands) [a halfway measure; even this was only because of intense
public pressure]. Includes diagram.
- see also 11/24/04 letter from DTSC
to CSV
January 2005
- 1/24/05 SFWRQCB update: CSV requests
a one-month extension on work (which took it into the Clapper Rail mating
season)
- 1/31/05 SFWRQCB update: "restoration
continues under coordinated efforts of the Water Board and DTSC" etc.
