LAST WEEK TO ACT!

Update from Save Organics Foundation

Happy April 23rd. One more week till the USDA stops taking public comments on their Proposed Rule. They've received over 100,000 comments (all outraged by their attempt to kill Organic), but we've still got a long way to go. It's urgent that you continue to let the USDA know how you feel, and we must start to actively move our campaign to tell Congress that we want them to make certain the USDA does the National Organic Program properly.

Please come back to our web site, www.saveorganic.org, and take a look at all the changes. The ExtraAction part of our Take Action section will guide you to be the most effective in contacting Congress. Senators Leahy and Jeffords, and Representatives DeFazio and Metcalf, have written letters to Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman. These letters are fabulous, and they support the strong existing Organic standards that are currently in place. Please call your Congressional Representative and Senators and ask them to add their signatures to these wonderful letters. You can get an excellent Activist Kit in the Act Locally section of our web site, and that will help you do even more!

We'll keep you posted on the progress of the Campaign to Keep 'Organic' Organic. Please send emails all over the world, to everyone you know and to every mailing list you have access to. Ask everyone to visit our web site and sign into Take Action, and ask them to pass the message on. If you have a web site, please make a link to www.saveorganic.org. We want to get another 100,000 letters in this last week before the USDA stops listening.

We love getting email, so please let us know your thoughts. Thanks for your efforts in support of Organic. Let's spread this around the world, and we'll show the USDA what web democracy really looks like. :)
