KPFA Steering Committee

The Steering Committee came to be early in the crisis and has been attempting to first ask questions of
Pacifica utilizing a Federal mediator, Lydia Baca. Since Pacifica has consistently refused to talk in good faith, the Steering Committee has reconsidered Mediation. In order to restart Mediation, the Committee presented Pacifica a list of 12 Demands with a necessary result being one or more Executive Board members sitting down to speak with the Committee. The Steering Committee, after waiting for months called off Mediation in mid-January, 2000. They continue to meet and as of May 2000 are in the process of redefining their role which continues to be one of the few places all the constituencies in the Pacifica struggle can meet. They have added representatives from the National Lawyers Guild, Media Alliance, North Bay for KPFA and the Unitarian Church.
